8th Grade Humanities
Welcome parents and scholars! It is a blessing to be finally be back in the classroom at John Adams Academy. I am so grateful that I get to be a part of the JAA community everyday. I always expect each school year to be different than years past, but I never expected anything like this! Even though challenges lie ahead, there is no school or no staff I would rather overcome these obstacles with than those here at John Adams Academy.
I am very excited to begin my 3rd year as one of the 8th grade humanities teachers (I can't believe we finally have more teachers!). It will be an exciting experience for myself and my scholars as we embark on our quest to learn about the greatest American classics and most influential figures that helped shape the United States of America. I am ready to learn new insights of American culture by reading, discussing and writing about the classics and become a mentor as the scholars cultivate the benefits of a classical education.
Originally from Southern California, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History from the California State University of Northridge and later moved to Sacramento to earn my Master's Degree in Teaching from the University of San Francisco-Sacramento Campus. When I am not in the classroom, I am reading, learning something new, cooking, exercising, working with photography, playing with my animals (my rabbits and my dog Leo) and going on adventures with my wife Marissa. We cannot wait for our new adventure this December when we welcome our first child!
